New Techniques in Global Collaboration for Musical Performances

Funded by:

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Strategic Partnership Award for Research Collaboration (Principal Investigator: Wendy Wan-Ki Lee)

Research collaborations between faculties and students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong Department of Music and The University of Toronto Faculty of Music

Project Description:

This project aims to explore new techniques in global collaboration for musical performance. Through the new compositions that were created specifically for this project, the international call for scores, the various concerts/workshops that were held both in Hong Kong and Toronto, as well as the composers’ documentaries and professional recordings that are published on our website, we hope to strengthen cultural and musical exchanges through digital collaborations, generate a proof of concept for music performance that has a low carbon footprint, and bridge the physical distance among all of its participants or other interested individuals via a research-creation methodology that is intercultural, interdisciplinary, and highly technological.
